The mandate of the Planning, Evaluation, Monitoring and Statistics Division (PEMSD) is to formulate agricultural policies, carry out economic analysis, prepare development programmes, conduct price and marketing studies for agricultural commodities, monitor and evaluate interventions in the agricultural sector, and to collect, process, analyse and disseminate agricultural statistics.
PEMSD plays a pivotal role in MAFFS by guiding the development and implementation of agricultural policies. Through its mandate the division supports policy coordination, planning, monitoring and the efficient mobilisation of resources. PEMSD works in conjunction with Statistic Sierra Leone (SSL) and the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development (MOFED), providing agricultural and price data to the analysis units in these organisations.
